Dallas Mail Order Plant, a three -story warehouse
at Arnold and Lamar Streets (1409 South Lamar
Street) is officially opened on September 24. |

A nine-story edition adjoining the north end of
the three-story 1910 warehouse is completed in

A
10-story tower and an additional nine story structure
and Club Building are opened. |

Demolition
of 1910 building begins a new construction phase. |

A
new two-story structure is competed. The Lamar
Street Retail Store, the third such store to be
established in the Sears operations, opens for
business during August. |

Floors

Annex Building at 1325 South Lamar is acquired. |

Mechanized Operating Stock Transport System (MOST)

Mary-Mac building is demolished to provide employee

Remodeling
of 1601 S. Lamar Street is completed. |

railroad yard between the Lamar Street and Roe
Street Warehouses at Austin and Arnold Streets

Complete
renovation of 1601 S. Lamar Street, which included
installing a separate HVAC system, window tinting,
upgraded electrical system, etc. is completed. |

South Lamar is vacated. |

20, 1993 is the official last day to process and
to ship customer orders from the Dallas Catalog
Merchandise Center at 1409 S. Lamar Street. |

Matthews
Southwest purchases the Sears Dallas Catalog Merchandise
Center and initiates concept plans for the South
Side On Lamar neighborhood. |

The
buildings are designated as a national Historic
Landmark. |

Matthews
Southwest donates land to the Dallas Police Department
for construction of its new headquarters. |

South
Side On Lamar, a 457 residential, retail, and
commercial conversion, welcomes its first residents. |
